#115 (of 365) "Notorious Lightning" Destroyer

I came out to my friends very late in my life. Like, very very late. By the time I told everyone (en masse) a lot of people already knew, but those were people I had met in my later, more comfortable with my sexuality self. The older friends, and the straighter male friends, I just didn't have it in me to tell my truth for a long time. I will not get into the psychology of why, here on this blog, and I do think I could have said something years earlier without any ripple in these friendships (none of which were adversely affected at all after coming out, which is pretty awesome) but I did when I could and it was very late. Especially with my very best friend. Who has always been there for me, through everything, and probably already knew, and was cool with it all. But the reason I bring it up is when I drove over to her house on a fevered Sunday morning after an eventful Saturday night that made me finally realize I had to just fucking tell her, but when I drove over, I played this song over and over again in my car on the ride over. Maybe, you know, because the lyrics meant something to me. 

This is, for better or worse, my coming out song. Thanks, Mr. Bejar for such wonderful music, even if it was definitely not written for that.
