#120 (of 365) "The Kidnapper Bell" Mono

Japanese post-rockers Mono were once one of my favorite bands, back during a virulent post-rock obsession, where I ate up everything from Do Make Say Think and Explosions in the Sky and Mogwai and Mono and Mum, experimenting with Dirty Three and 65daysofstatic or Yndi Halda's Enjoy Eternal Bliss. Not to mention of course, Godspeed and A Silver Mt. Zion and Sigur Ros. But very few of the bands from this time lasted until 2025. Mogwai yes. Godspeed, sure. And A Silver Mt. Zion will make this list again, pretty high up. But Do Make Say Think went away and Mum did as well and this is the only Mono song to survive. It's gorgeous though. Truly magical after all these years. I wish I could remember how I felt the first time I heard it. It's that special of a song.
