#128 (of 365) "Intervention" Arcade Fire

In the aftermath of the colossal Funeral, Arcade Fire were not just the biggest band in the indie rock world, they were one of my absolute favorites. The next album kicked off with an early released version of this song, and it was so good, the more orchestral version that appear on the album was a little jarring. But alas, the rest of Neon Bible wasn't nearly as good as the debut, even though the album version of this song was actually better. Third album The Suburbs was for me a masterpiece on par with Funeral, but that drove the band to stratospheric levels rarely ever seen by indie rock bands and their fourth album was a departure that they wouldn't recover from in the subsequent decade as I stopped being a fan and actively loathed some more recent releases. I will always have my memory of first hearing "Intervention," though, and expecting a band I would admire the rest of my life.
