#132 (of 365) "Pretty in Pink" Psychedelic Furs

Yup. Finally a song everybody knows :) 

So there's the movie, which is a solid John Hughes '80s classic that I have not revisited in decades. Then there's the song, which isn't in the movie, I don't think (the big closer is "If You Leave" by OMD), they just used the song's title, and did put the song on the soundtrack, giving the Psych Furs single from 5 years earlier a second life. The song is my favorite of the band's and the band was once one of my favorite bands. Definitely one of my favorites of the '80s. The lyrics are what makes the song so strong, through, much like the two songs that proceeded this in the countdown.

"Well Caroline laughs and it's raining all day" is such a perfect, perfect introduction to a short story about a woman treated poorly by the men she's "dated" but persevering. I can't honestly think of a better start to any song ever.
