#141 (of 365) "Winged / Wicked Things" Sunset Rubdown

I remember when Sunset Rubdown first played this song at a Daytrotter session (remember Daytrotter?! It was awesome). This was before it came out on the album and I fell in love at once. In fact it might have made my top 30 of the year (2006?) as the Daytrotter version before appearing again on the list the following year as a slightly different full album version. This was very much at the height of Spencer's powers (and my obsession with his music). They reunited for the first time in a decade last year, and played here in NYC at the Gramercy, in an appallingly not sold-out show, so it was intimate and beautiful and kind of disappointing that these songs did not have the impact in the greater world that they should have, that the band remained a "side project" for Spencer. Because for a brief shining moment in the last 2000s, they were my favorite band of all time.
