#159 (of 365) "Heartbeat in the Brain" The World is a Beautiful Place and I Am No Longer Afraid to Die

The World Is lineup today has completely changed from the one that recorded their 2013 debut, with band member departures, a tragic death, and other issues. And their sound has completely changed as well. I am no longer a fan, which is sad because the band was not only featured prominently in my 2020 debut novel I Will Be Okay (my narrator Mateo was obsessed with them) but I took the title from one of their songs--which will appear higher on this chart. But the songs they released as that original version, both from their still incredible/flawless debut album, and all the EPs that came out around that time, are still among my favorite songs ever. This is the second track off of Whenever, If Ever, and just hearing the tingling guitars at the start brings me back to the summer of 2013 in Hoboken, my first summer living so close to NYC, and all the joy that came into my life, while walking the streets with my headphones in, listening to this song.
