#202 (of 365) "Head On" Pixies

The Pixies are obviously one of the greatest alternative (indie?) bands of all time, a huge influence on Nirvana and most of the great alternative acts of the early 90s, way ahead of its time at the time, and I have always been a fan. The Surfer Rosa/Doolittle back-to-back wonder twins of albums released in 1988 and 1989 are just filled with incredible music, and they released two more albums in the next two years!  And then they just stopped. They broke up--"Black Francis" went out on his own, Kim Deal joined the Breeders--and except for multiple reunion tours that sparked new albums in the past 2 decades, that was kind of it. But they left some wonderful music in that 4-albums in 4-years span that has rarely been matched. 

So I'm quite sure why only two (2!) Pixies tracks ended up on this countdown. And one of them--this one--is a cover of a Jesus & Mary Chain song that will actually appear (spoiler alert) higher on this countdown. But this is a really amazing song, one of the best, or simply the best cover ever. And I probably should have made room for more Pixies songs.
