#216 (of 365) "Obstacle 1" Interpol

Ah, 2002. The year indie rock briefly popped its head out in NYC and became almost mainstream. Bands like The Strokes and Bloc Party and The Killers and Interpol were going to save rock and roll, after the unfortunate collapse of the Nirvana-led alternative boom of the 90s that fell into rap-rock drivel like Limp Bizkit. But then it all kind of ended. Very few of these bands continued their early 00s breakthrough successes. And in fact, this song represents one of the only songs from that era to make this countdown, or at least the only one from Interpol. But man it was glorious. For a moment.
