Listen, man. The system is fucked. And the type of anarchist revolution espoused by this band in much of their songs is justified. Because Democratic presidents have continued our wars and didn't do nearly enough to stop the ever-increasing gulf between the rich and the poor in America. But leftists fed up with President Biden's failure to respond to the assault on Gaza by a horrible, right-wing fascist Netanyahu led some--at least some online--to claim that Harris would be no better than Trump on the issue, and well, I can't say that was particularly intelligent reasoning. Because five months in, we've had ICE acting as a Gestapo, we've had the tariff/economic disasters, prices have of course not gone down, the incredible ongoing undeniable grift has gone up, unabated, he's pardoned criminals who tried to overthrow the government, they've attacked the FDA and the CDC and Harvard researchers, and collapsed the trust of our long-time Allies while continuing an unwavering support for Netanyahu, and now, this weekend war with Iran. Which, yeah. Harris would have been better. Romney would have been better. Jimmy Carter, in his fucking grave, would have been better. But our voters are remarkably ill-informed and selfish and racist, and they elect horrible people all the time, and I get it--I really am fucking pissed at Democratic leadership for (a) losing TWICE to this fascist idiot, (b) for not putting up any kind of valuable resistance, and (c) for not performing the very basic duties of the job that would have kept a country (even one overwhelmed by propaganda) from turning on you, but fuck, at the moment, they're all we got. I don't know what else to say. I used to listen to Desaparecidos music and find hope in the rage against the machine. Now, five months into the Trump Regime, I can't even channel that anger anymore.
