#262 (of 365) "Myth" Beach House

Can a song reach my top tracks of all time countdown on one simple line/turn of phrase? In this case yes. The flourish of instruments at the start of the second verse, when Victoria Legrand sings: "If you built yourself a myth, you'd know just what to give. What comes after this? Momentary bliss."

I don't know why - it's like explaining a feeling settling in my gut - but it gets me every time. They use the same flourish later in the song and it's almost as gut-wrenchingly beautiful but doesn't hit quite as strong as the first time.

Anyway, this is the only Beach House song on the list, even though they have an incredible catalog of really great songs. This is the only one to floor me. "If you built yourself a myth..."
