#280 (of 365) "Purr" Sonic Youth

One of the great alternative bands of the 80s and 90s, the highly influential Sonic Youth kind of faded for me by the 2000s and eventually broke up, as the dual lead singers (Thurston Moore and Kim Gordon) broke up after 27 years of marriage in 2011, effectively ending the band. I don't listen to them as much anymore and only three of their songs made this list, but two are from this album, and the third will not be seen until much later in this yearlong countdown, sometime in LATE December (spoiler alert).
