#283 "April Skies" The Jesus & Mary Chain

Here's a band I used to adore. Back when I first got turned onto "alternative" music, in the late 80s and early 90s (my college years, appropriately), J&MC were part of the second wave of somewhat newer bands that "appeared in my feed" on the strength of 1989's Automatic and, in particular "Head On". I would come to be obsessed with the older songs from the band, whose debut Psychocandy was a legendary alternative music release in 1985. But time was not all that kind to the band and the truth is, other than "Head On" and "Just Like Honey" from Psychocandy, I wasn't sure any other track from one of my early favorites would make this chart. When I was preparing this list, though, I kept coming back to this song, off the album in between--1987's Darklands, and thought there was too much legacy to leave to two tracks. So here it is. Vintage 80s alternative from the Jesus and Mary Chain.

And the world comes tumbling down.
