#294 (of 365) "Crime" Real Estate

I saw Real Estate play at White Eagle Hall in Jersey City last night, on January 31, 2025. It was the first concert I've seen this year, a year that can categorically be labeled a shitty shitty horrible no-good terrible year just one month in. In New Jersey, it's been, well fucking cold. Snowy and cold. Coldest January in years, so I've been either walking Elie in frigid temps at 7 am, or stuck inside lamenting why I haven't yet moved to Southern California. Of course, terrible tragic fires ripped through LA and made moving there a lot less appealing. And then after all that, the worst president in the history of the United States (as judged by historians) somehow got elected to be president again, and ten days in, I don't know how to even begin describing what a whirlwind of shit is happening. So, you know, shit year. One month in.

But Real Estate were great. They'll be on this chart four more times so I'll have a lot more to say about them. But right now, it's hard for me to find motivation or hope, in anything. This country that I love is being dismantled at alarming speed by oligarchs and racists and putting all of us in danger--of massive recession, food shortages, tragedy, death, war, famine. Like it's literally all on the table right now. The "empire" is collapsing in real-time.

Anyway, did I mention Real Estate played "Crime" last night. I don't know why I'm thinking that now.
