Sometimes the simplest thoughts become classic tracks. On The Mouth was Superchunk's third full-length, released back in 1992, and is arguably their greatest album ever. Foolish, which followed, has higher peaks, but for just rock-solid perfect music all the way through, I often go to On The Mouth for an early-era Superchunk fix. And "Precision Auto," the first track, really embodies the spirit and energy of a band that still, over 30 years later, has the same live energy on stage. They are in fact my favorite band of all time and this is the 2nd of 13 (!) songs that will come on this list. They played it live this summer at hometown club Cat's Cradle in Carrboro, NC, a show I was fortunate to view. It was one of the highlights of my music fandom.
