#318 (of 365) "Nothing Ever Happened" Deerhunter

Deerhunter were part of the indie rock wave of the late 2000s that took the blogosphere by storm, and if you don't know what a "blogosphere" is, be thankful, because I wasted many many hours posting about music and miscellaneous crap back at my old site, Vague Space, the archives of which ARE on the Internet and you can actually find them here, believe it or not. It seems like a long time ago and is definitely a long time ago, when Deerhunter exploded via Microcastle in 2008 and follow-up Halcyon Digest in 2010. Lead singer Bradford Cox also fronted offshoot Atlas Sound, which was a thing around the same time, and guitarist Lockett Pundt put out records in the early 2010s under the Lotus Plaza moniker, which I discovered much later and fell in love with (in particular 2012's Spooky Action at a Distance). "Monoliths" was in the running for this countdown, along with Deerhunter tracks "Memory Boy", "Nosebleed", and "Helicopter." But this track off of Microcastle, spurred by the amazing lyric-less final couple minutes, is the only Deerhunter song to make this chart.
