#338 (of 365) "Helpless" Sugar

Bob Mould is one of the great indie rock musicians of all time. Writer, guitarist, singer. Co-lead of the highly influential and groundbreaking Husker Du. And since the mid-90s he's been recording music under his own name, decades worth of brilliant music. For whatever reason, though, only a single song of his made this list. "Helpless" was the first song off the short-lived (2 albums only) follow up to Husker Du, and it's a song I loved at the time, off an album I loved at the time, before I ever got into the more hardcore-edged Husker Du tracks. It's timeless, I guess. And a truly perfect pop song, which is not something I typically admire, but you can't deny how catchy it is.
