#345 (of 365) "Anything Anything" DramaRama

Twenty-one songs into the countdown and we get one of the seminal records of my youth. I still remember the first time I heard it, in fact. I was in New Brunswick, during the summer of 1991, riding with my friend and it came on the mix tape in his car, not the radio, and I was blown away by the sound. "DramaRama" was not a band I was at all familiar with at the time, even as they were from New Jersey. This quickly became one of my favorite songs of all time, and I dove head first into the DramaRama oeuvre. Of course that was 33 years ago--wow--and the band has faded from my interest in the ensuing years, this song being the only relic of that time to make the chart. Now you might ask why I remember the specific moment I first heard this track and why it was so significant to me at the time? Let's just say I had a major crush on the friend driving me that day and I will forever associate the lyrics to my somewhat obsessive attraction for him, back when I was completely in the closet and didn't even know how to articulate my feelings, let alone figure out whether or not he might be gay. But it's still an amazing song.
