#347 (of 365) "Drive All Night" Joyer

The folly of making a list of your favorite songs for posterity is (a) you probably forgot some of your favorites in the compilation and (b) it is a moment in time, so you'll be missing new songs unreleased yet and (c) where to rank more recent songs, that haven't had decades of listening to rise and fall in your estimation? For me, the hardest part has been placing 2024 releases, some of which I love but are all so new to me it's hard to truly find a place. I don't even know Joyer. I haven't seen them live (yet) and I'm not sure how I stumbled upon this track from their 2024 album Night Songs but here's a writeup from their website:

"Joyer formed in New Jersey in 2017, and after releasing two self-recorded demo collections, they released their first studio album, Sun Into Flies, in 2020, followed by Perfect Gray in 2021. Night Songs marks a departure from their hushed slowcore beginnings and displays a more expansive sound—from blowtorched shoegaze guitars and poppier vocals to melancholy synths and pastoral lap steel."

This is the first of (only) three songs from 2024 on the list.
