#349 (of 365) "Erasure" Superchunk

Superchunk is my favorite band of all time. My list of favorite bands go something like this:

• 1987 to 1992: U2
• 1992 to 2009: The Smiths
• 2009 to 2013: Sunset Rubdown
• 2013 to 2024 (ongoing): Superchunk

Not a whole lot of bands on this list, as you can see.

Superchunk's first single was released way back when I was in high school and knew nothing about music but thought U2 were the greatest band ever. This summer, I flew to Chapel Hill, NC, to see them play at Cat's Cradle (officially in Carrboro, NC), the hometown venue for the 35th anniversary of Merge Records, the label Mac (and Laura, I think) started as a way to release their friends' bands music. 35 years is a long time for a band (and an indie record label). I don't imagine this list above will ever have another band at number one.
