#350 (of 365) "(Joe Gets Kicked out of School for Using) Drugs with Friends" Car Seat Headrest

Car Seat Headrest began as a solo project by Will Toledo in 2010 shortly after he graduated high school. He released a treasure trove of lo-fi albums under the CSH moniker, eventually joining up with fellow students at William & Mary in 2013 to perform live as a band. Two years later, now in Seattle, Toledo recruited a bassist and drummer to record Teens of Style for Matador Records, a re-recording of songs he'd written as a solo performer. It was around then, with the song "Something Soon," I think, that I first heard the music, but it was really the big breakout album Teens of Denial in 2016 that thrust CSH onto the national indie stage, shooting to success on the strength of "Drunk Drivers / Killer Whales," which my partner hates to his core because he heard me play it so much in 2016. That incredible album has 3 songs on this list, out of the 9 Car Seat Headrest songs overall.

This is the only one where I've chanted in concert with hundreds of fellow fans, at least a dozen times I've seen this song live: "Drugs are better with friends are better, friends are better with drugs are better with friends are better, friends are better with drugs."
