#355 (of 365) "Rider" Okkervil River

The third track from 2011 to make this list, this song comes off a later Okkervil River album I Am Very Far, which is less a masterpiece than a lot of Will Sheff's early work as Okkervil River. In fact, of the nine (9!) total tracks that the band has placed on this countdown, "Rider" is the second "newest." As I think I mentioned in a recent post, most (all?) of the great bands I fell in love with during my indie rock music obsession renaissance that fueled the old version of the Vague Space blog (2003 to 2012) are either no longer making new music in 2024 or if they are, it no longer interests me. I think Okkervil River would still interest me, but Will hasn't released anything under that moniker since 2018's disappointing In the Rainbow Rain.
