#79 (of 365) "Beach-Life-in-Death" Car Seat Headrest

Such a fascinating song. First recorded when Car Seat Headrest was a solo effort, Will Toledo's high school endeavor, appearing on the original Twin Fantasy in 2011. That was a solid track, in retrospect, that I discovered later, after I became obsessed with the now four-piece full band in the mid 2010s. The larger band re-recorded all of Twin Fantasy in 2018 and it became my favorite album of the year, littering my end of year charts with songs, three of which ended up on this chart of the greatest songs of all time. But my absolute favorite was this over-13 minute rumination that closed the album and I dare say elevated Will in my eyes among the great songwriters at such a young age. I probably don't feel as strong now as I did then, but the song still lodged into my top 80 of all time, and the lyrics -- which include verses about coming out that rang very true to me -- are still so beautiful and strong.
