#86 (of 365) "Freak Scene" Dinosaur Jr.

Very much like "Just Like Honey" (two songs ago), this is an absolutely crucial, legendarily founding track in the annals of alternative/indie rock music from the '80s, back with Lou was still in the band (and right before Lou and J. started to hate each other, or maybe they always did), off the brilliant, amazing, incomparable Bug, the third album from Dinosaur Jr. 

It's kind of crazy, so many years later, how often I've seen the full band together (J, Lou, and Murph) in concert since their 2005 (?) reunion when I was too young (and hadn't even heard of them) back when they were a youthful band. I take great pains in my later years to see as many "young bands" as I can, so I don't miss out on their early years (before they got big) but music, especially rock music, has changed so much that I don't think even a relatively successful "classic alternative" band like Dinosaur Jr. or the J&MC will arrive today and still be playing concerts 40 years from now, but I guess you never know.

Why can't it just be cool and free us?
