#88 (of 365) "Just Like Honey" The Jesus & Mary Chain

There are important songs in the history of alternative music. Songs that defined an era ("Smells Like Teen Spirit") or songs that that retroactively defined an era ("Debaser"). Songs that are revered for their technical precision ("Sometimes", on this chart earlier) or for presaging the future of music ("Creep", "Blue Monday"). But there are few songs as impactful, in my opinion, to the greater world of music than this one. The first single off the debut album from the Scottish brothers Reid, the name "honey" was a very late addition to the recording, on the day of, after cycling through bunches of different girl names (and I learned, a few different background singers). Honey got it perfect though. And this song is truly perfect.
